Tenorio Volcano & Río Celeste: Turquoise Waterfall and the Katira Labyrinth

A full-day journey into the Guanacaste volcanic range to see the famous turquoise waterfall of Río Celeste in Tenorio Volcano National Park, followed by the maze-like passageways of the Katira Labyrinth.

Begin this beautiful natural journey with an early departure from San José, ascending towards Tenorio Volcano in the Guanacaste volcanic mountain range. Your destination is Tenorio Volcano National Park, home to the stunning Río Celeste and its incredible turquoise waterfall. You'll walk the trails bordering the Celeste River, taking in the park's lush rainforest while watching for sloths and the abundant flora and fauna of the area.

After the volcano visit, the tour continues along the mountain road to the day's second adventure: the Katira Labyrinth, a magical maze where you can recreate scenes from fantasy films as you explore its intricate passageways. Prefer a different experience? You can instead venture into the private Jungle Life Reserve to search the treetops for sloths and many other species in their natural habitat, or walk the hanging bridges at Heliconias Lodge. A delicious traditional lunch is part of the day, an adventure in two very different environments before the evening return to San José.
