Black Friday in Panama: shopping and the Old Town
A group departure for Black Friday: an overnight coach from San José, three nights in Panama City with breakfast, the big malls, a day in the Colón Free Zone and an afternoon in the Old Town.
Black Friday is the one week of the year when a shopping trip to Panama pays for itself, and this is a single group departure built around it.
We leave San José on the night of 25 November aboard a luxury coach and cross at Paso Canoas while you sleep, so the first full day in Panama starts fresh rather than after a day behind the wheel. Three nights follow at the Marriott or a similar hotel in Panama City, breakfast included.
The shopping is the point. Albrook Mall, the largest in Latin America, and City Mall are both on the programme, and one full day goes to the Colón Free Zone, the duty-free district that has drawn Costa Rican shoppers for generations. Ground transport in Panama is included throughout, so the bags travel with the group and not on a taxi meter.
But a week of tills is not a holiday, so an afternoon goes to the Casco Antiguo, the UNESCO-listed old quarter, where the colonial streets and the view over the bay at dusk are the reason people come back to Panama for reasons other than the receipts.
A single departure, a flat price and limited seats.
